This page is a listing of some of the courses, which I have taught
while at Texas A&M University. I am making the material available to my
students and anyone else who would be interested. The pages are going
through a major transformation, so please be patient.
Last Class - Summer 2003
- ENGR 221
-
I have been asked to lecture a section this week (10/16) for ENGR 221. The
layout page. The solutions to example problems can be
found on the main class page.
- CVEN 444
-
CVEN 444 - Structural Concrete Design. The class deals with using reinforced
concrete in the design of buildings. The concrete code (ACI 318-02) has
changed and most of my past examples and problems will be changed from
past semesters.
The link will connect you the class page, which will give you a listing of
lectures, homework problems, exam information and class blog.
Past Classes
- CVEN 302 - Computer Applications in Engineering and Construction
-
I have taught a numerical methods course for civil and construction engineers
and have taught it,
Spring 2001,
Summer 2001,
Fall 2001,
and Summer 2002. The
course material covers basics on MATLAB, matrix and vector manipulations,
solving for roots, nonlinear equations, LU decomposition, eigenvalues and
eigenvectors, differentiation, integration, IVP, BVP, and systems of
equations.
- CVEN 305 - Mechanics of Materials
-
I have been teaching mechanics of materials off and on for the last 4
years. I started teaching the class was known as
CVEN 205, which I taught
in the Fall of 1998 using the web as tool. Since then, I have taught it,
Fall 1999,
Summer 2000,
MWF-Fall 2000,
TTh-Fall 2000,
Fall 2001,
and Spring 2001. The
course covers the axial loads and stresses, torsion stresses and deflections,
indeterminate torsion, Mohr's circle, moments of inertia, material properties,
shear and bending moment diagrams, bending stresses, beam deflections,
indeterminate beams, and column buckling.
- CVEN 345 - Theory of Structures
-
I taught this course in the
Spring 2000. The
course covers beams, truss, indeterminate structures, influence lines,
moment distributions, slope deflection method, and virtual work.
- ENGR 221 - Statics and Dynamics
-
I taught this course in the
Spring 2003. The
course covers an introduction to statics and dynamics.
- MEEN 363 - Dynamics and Vibrations
-
I taught this course in the
Spring 2002. The
course covers modeling of dynamic systems, using analytical and numerical
approaches for solving systems of equations and linear systems.
- ENGR 111 & ENGR 112 - Engineering Foundations(I)
-
I taught this course in the
Fall 2002 and
Spring 2003. The
course is an introductory course for freshmen engineers. It gives an overview
of engineering ranging from computer programing, engineering graphics,
team work, projects and introduction to basics of engineering.
- CE 202 - Engineering Statics
-
I taught this course in the
Fall 2004 and
Spring 2005. This
course is an introductory course of statics for engineers. It gives an overview
simple statics, free-body diagrams, vectors, summation of forces and moments,
shear and bending moment diagrams, moments of inertia and fluids.
- CVEN 444 - Reinforced Concrete Design
-
I have taught this course in the
Fall 2001,
Spring 2002,
Fall 2002,
Spring 2003, and
Summer 2003. The
course covers the design of reinforced concrete members including the
design of beams for torsion, two-way slabs, slender columns, biaxial bending
of columns, and serviceability of concrete structures.
