This is a review page for the material on
the final exam. The information will help you to focus on what is important.
If you have questions, email me!
The take home-exam will be due by December 10 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. It will
consists of 4 problems.
The final exam consist of four
problems. You will have a week to finish the exam. A series of example
problems are available on-line to help you work the problems.
The problems are copies of old exams:
- Problem 1 is a two-slab design. I have two example problems on-line,
which you can use to find the results. The
first example is the design of
slab thickness for the given design. The
second example is the design procedure
for a two-way slab. You will need to use the technique from the footing
design to compute the steel reinforcements using Ru. You can
find more material in
Lecture 23, and
Lecture 24.
- Problem 2 is a serviceability design for deflection calculations. There is
an serviceability example, which you
can use to help in computing the deflection. You will also find material in
lecture 21 and
lecture 22.
- Problem 3 is the design of the reinforcement for a spiral column. You
need to use the tables in the back of your book. The depth is the the
diameter of the spiral column. You will also find material in
lecture 20,
lecture 21 and
lecture 22.
- Problem 4 is the design of square footing. You will find
a footing example, which you looks at
the design of a footing for a wall. A
second footing example, which you looks at
design of rectangular footing for column connection. It will show how
to look at one-way shear, two-way shear (punch out), dowel design and
bearing capacity and bar development length. You will find more material
on the topic in lecture 24.
If you have any question on the exam I will answer them on a
question page. Good luck.
