For most of t he song, everything's going normally, Dave makes the routine 1984 EWS jokes, but when it's time to come back in to finish the song, the guitar craps out on Eddie around the 13:10 mark Dave says, "In show biz, this is what we call getting...getting caught with your pants down here...I've always wanted to do this." Dave apparently does so mething wild in front of the crowd as we hear a loud pop from the crowd, and Alex keeps banging the drums (event ually joined by Mike on bass) until they fix the guitar problem The band stalls for about a total of 3 minutes Finally the guitar comes back in and Dave goes, "I heard you missed us, we're back!" That notwithstanding, this is a pretty tight show Not perfect, but tight Recording quality is damn close to the 1984 North Carolina masters Some notable points for this show/recording: this one has a really explosive start with a solid performance of "Unchained." Ed screws up 2:53-2:56 of "Hot For Teacher" in the scale .. we really hear the throbbing bass keyboard notes in "I'll Wait" on this recording above most other recordings ....there is a tape flip between "Jamie's Cryin'" and "I'll Wait." Ed screws up 2:01-2:05 of EWS..."Jump" is near flawless..." beginning of (Oh) Pretty Woman sounds a little strange for a couple of seconds...tape change in the middle of the guitar solo...there's a longer jam than normal prior to "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" which lasts ab out 1:37...tracking on the CD was done with a standalone burner, which is why some tracks might be a few seconds off This is also why the guitar solo is two tracks, as the standalone was paused (which automatically creates a new track on standalones) to put in the second tape where the guitar solo picks up I declined to change the tracking in any way. The person who taped this is the same person who taped the following VH shows: Fresno 9/5/ 82, US Fest 5/29/83, Los Angeles 5/14/84 This is Mark P's 1st gen copy of this show Please throw out and do not trade any other copy of this show unless it is a verified 1st gen cassette copy. Recommended even for casual fans. Credits: Thanks to Tim O in NY for the CDR copy. Mark P's 1st gen tape copy. Grand Ol' Opry V-Disc Transcriptions
Notes:
Vol. 1 Original Aluminum Platter / Shellac > DAT > CDR > EAC > WAV > TRACKING > FLAC Grand Ol' Opry V-Disc Transcriptions Armed Forces Radio A friend who's Father works for WSM suprised me with a rare batch of Transcripts of radio shows recorded and pressed to V-Disc "Victory-Disc" and sent abroad to Armed Forces radio for rebroadcast to the soldiers at war. These were drawn from the original aluminum stampers and shellac discs The quality is not by any means stellar. The raveges of time are obvious in certain places. What you do get are rare performances of the hits of the day by artists of the day. Should this prove to be a popular torrent, I will do all 15 cdr's worth. There are 2 - 3 shows per cdr. All are from center stage of the Rhyman Auditorium, The Grand Ol' Opry.... live from Music City, Nashville Tennessee. I have been reasearching these all day and find no indication that they ever were r eleased comercially at any time. The performances by Hank Snow are NOT the Thesauru s Transcripts that have been released by Bear Family records. Here we go, step back in time to being a lonely soldier on foreign soil serving his country, and tuning in the radio to hear a little bit of home. Spaghetti Afternoon - Vol 1
http://sandgropers.blogspot.com/
Spaghetti Anthology
I was going to share the three volume Spaghetti series but as the CDs are available
I've decided to create my own three volume set of contemporary instrumental/surf
groups performing tunes that are either stylisticly or thematically in that
western/spaghetti mood. Some are actually versions of Spaghetti classics while others
may only suggest that theme by title or mood.
Remember if you like any of these artists and they have CDs available you may wish
to purchase them.

Stevie Ray Vaughan
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Cotton Club, Lubbock, TX, Mar. 28, 1978
Notes:
It's time for some Stevie Ray Vaughan again. This time an early recording with the Triple Threat Revue from 1978. Audience record ed show but pretty good quality. I'm a huge SRV fan, but I need some help with track 5. I don't know the title of this song. Because this show is a short one, I thought I add a filler to the torrent, a tv show Stevie did in 1985 in Canada. The soundquality is ok. I'm not sure if this comes straight from the video tape or if it was an audience recorded show. I don't have the info of that. I hope y'all enjoy this one. Stevie Ray Vaughan - Desperado's, Washington, DC, 1980
Notes:
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Desperado's, Washington D.C.
This show was received (already transferred to CDR) through Jim Zintz (thanks Jim!) from
someone who will remain anonymous who was at the show. It was listed as "1980 or 1981
(more on the date below). It's lineage is unknown, but it appears to be an aud. tape,
probably made by a crew member with mics at the SBD. The sound is pretty good most of the
time, but some songs are cut. This show is definitely uncirculated. I have never seen it
on any list of known recordings in my two decades of collecting SRV. I have to say it is
one of the most interesting early performances in my collection. Stevie just picks his ass
off!
It is very difficult to establish the date of this show. The earliest known (verified)
dates that Stevie played at Desperado's are 02/12 and 02/13/80. However, there is always
a possibility that there was an earlier gig and the date is unknown. Stevie also played
Desperados again 7/24/80 and then again 08/31 and 09/01/81. Tommy joined the band in Jan.,
1981. It is likely that it is either one of the 1980 shows or an unknown earlier show.
Lou Ann Barton makes a very brief appearance during this set. Unfortunately, her
introduction is cut. It may have provided a clue as to whether she was sitting in or part
of the band. She only performs two songs, which would be unusual. She tended to do several
at a time with the band. However, there is a cut in the recording between those two songs
and another after the second song. Did she perform more? Even though they parted company in
late 1979 (her last gig was said to be in 11/24/79 in Providence, RI) it is also said that
she finished the northeast leg of their tour. It is at least possible that this included
the Feb. 80 gigs in cities like D.C. and Baltimore. Since Lou Ann joined Roomful of Blues,
who worked and lived primarily in the northeast, she may have decided to come see her old
friends and sit in. If so, I can't think of another time she sat in with them after she
left the group.
Further information to consider: Stevie does not introduce the band, so it is unclear
if Tommy Shannon or Jackie Newhouse is playing bass. The playing of "Driving South,"
"Savoy Shuffle" and a few other songs on the setlist tends to indicate that Tommy is
playing in the band, but it does sound like Newhouse to my ears. I tend to lean toward
Newhouse despite the setlist, but it remains unknown.
Check out this incredible setlist! If you aren't stunned after listening to the
first 4 or 5 tracks, see a doctor! This is a smokin' show.

No artwork; sorry. Fingerprints are in a separate text file. Comments: Very nice audience recording of SRV's late show at The Ritz on New Year's Eve 1989/90. I have no idea if this is in general circulation or not; I got this directly from the taper in late 1991. Heartbreakingly, the last encore -- "Don't Lose Your Cool" -- is cut a min ute or two before the end. I don't know if this cut is on the master, but I suspect it's not -- my cassette runs out just after the music cuts. (Bummer that I haven't been in tou ch with the taper since 1992.) In any case, I *think* this was taped on an early Sony D-3 DAT. The taper had done a numb er of 1990 shows on DAT, so I think this used the same equipment. The performance is fun and loose, and Stevie's in a great mood. The recording is pretty s olid with minimal crowd noise (considering that it was recorded late on New Year's Eve); I boosted the high end a little to bring up the vocals and guitar. Really solid tape; I wi sh the last couple of minutes were on there.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Force of Nature II
Notes:
Here's a request for some classic Stevie Ray by my old buddy on Dime, Slewofboots. Is it just me or does that boy literally have a slew of bootlegs? (scratching head) . This show goes out to him although I learned the other day that there is a more c omplete 3 CD Set making the rounds. Obviously, this is just the inferior S.R.V. Fo rce Of Nature II (two CDs for those who aren't math majors). Back in the day before I was married and had kids (hint, hint - still had LOTS of di sposable income), I fancied myself as quite the Stevie bootleg collector. Have amas sed a pretty darn nice collection but I'm certain that they all have been uploaded b y now. Again, this is a special request from a friend. Not one of my favorite shows, truth be told as it's an audience recording (yes, I'm a SB snob) but any Steve is good Steve as we say here in Texas. My leader Geetarz r ates this an AUD5 and his link to the actual disc is given below. http://www.geetarz.org/reviews/srv/force-of-nature-2.htm This was recorded on June 20, 1983 at Fitzgeralds Club in Houston, TX. Kind of the Houston version of Antone's in Austin, just not as famous, IMO. Enjoy Slewofboots and everyone else. Remember, don't convert to MP3, sell, or ever bet that The Dallas Mavericks will win an NBA Championship when up 2-0 over The Miam i Heat and the team is owned by a guy who can't keep his mouth shut and our esteemed Dallas City Council leaks a potential victory parade route. But hey, I'm not bitte r.
