David Olney

David Olney - Hollandsche Rading, Hertenkamp, Oct. 6, 2003

Notes:

David Olney (solo)
In the Woods
Hollandsche Rading - the Hertenkamp
monday october 6 2003

Another recording from an artist I like so much, David Olney ! I made recordings with him a couple
of times before, but this one is very special to me. Recorded "In the Woods" ,this evening a full
packed house at the Hertenkamp in Hollandsche Rading. Full packed means 100 people seated around
a small stage. As I wrote before, musicians play FULL acoustic here.

But, the day David arrived a couple of hours before the gig he had a fever and his throat hurted s
o much. He asked me if it was possible to arrange some amplicatian. In my car I had a simple NAD h
ome amplifier, we used two Magnat speakers from Cees, I made two groups on my small recording-mixe
r, found an old SM58 and used the tube mike amplifier as DI for his guitar. David took a 2 hours n
ap, came downstairs eat a little bit and said "Well we cannot cancel it, let's try....use lot's of
reverb on my voice please" He took his black hat, we walked to the venue and HE did one of his be
st solo performances I ever heard !

Recorded in two sets on a Yamaha MDX E100 MD

A must have for all the David Olney fans.... and singer/songwriters lovers.

Enjoy ! *** EXCELLENT SOUND QUALITY ***
dedicated to Pieter, who drove me to my first Olney gig, years ago.

Main of them were recording for Radio-Bellevue and Zap FM and we have had some technical f
acilities to record these shows.
The OMAR & THE HOWLERS show was recorded during their second tour in France at "le Transbo
rdeur" in Lyon.
(first one was in 1989, i have also the tape....)
This pre-FM was done for Zap FM (Lyon)
I've used a separate 16 tracks sound desk to mix soundboard outputs (drums/bass/guitar/voc
als) + a couple of ambiance mikes (Sennheiser MD441)
mixed onto a Sony TCD5M tape recorder on-the-fly with headphones.
