December 14, 1985
Austin City Limits
University of Texas at Austin - Studio 6A
Austin Texas

Soundboard audio from Beta Hi-Fi video tape - decent but not great sound quality - please check
the sample to hear for yourself how it sounds.

I'm hoping to be able to upload a DVD video of this soon but to do a proper song list menu I ne
ed accurate song titles. Therefore I am posting the audio first to give others out in DimeLand
a chance to help me. I made an attempt but I suspect that quite a few titles are incorrect (tha
nks in advance!). This copy is not lossy since it is coming from the original video tape and no
t from a DVD.

Disc 1 - main set - 70:07
01 [01:33] Intro by Arthel Neville
02 [07:05] Fiyo on The Bayou

05 [04:58] I Can See It In Your Eyes
06 [05:14] For Your Precious Love

08 [00:43] final thanks & crowd

Aaron Neville, Charles Neville, Art Neville, Cyril Neville, Daryl Jones, Brian Stoltz plus the
drummer (?? - see screengrab posted in the comments).

Lineage:
Maxell 500HGX Beta tape of unknown generation played back on Sony SuperBeta Hi-Fi SL-HF450 > So
ny DVMC-DA2 media converter > Final Cut Pro (16 bit/48 kHz audio) > Pro Tools (a few clicks sea
mlessly removed, DC offset correction, tracking & downsample to 44.1 kHZ.) > AIFF > xACT (flac
level 8 with sector boundaries verified). md5 file created with checkSUM+.

Extensive web searches did not turn up any official releases for the Nevilles - only from the l

Neville Bros-Chicago 1989-05-09 FM Complete
Band: The Neville Brothers
Venue: The Navy Pier, Chicago
Date: 1989-05-09 (some sources say 1989-05-27)
Source: FM Broadcast.
Sound quality is very good+
Lineage: FM broadcast -> unknown -> CD/CD-R -> Ripped to .WAV files using
Cool Edit Pro -> Also used Cool Edit to fade in first track and cross fade the
tracks which were not already crossfaded -> Used FLAC Frontend to convert from
.wav to .flac

Flac fingerprints file included.
Setlist:

DISC ONE: (54:37)
1. Hey Pocky Way / Walk on Gilded Splinters
2. Voodoo
3. People Say
4. Wake Up
5. A Change is Gonna Come
6. Yellow Moon
7. Tell It Like It Is
8. My Blood
9. Sister Rosa

DISC TWO (52:15)
1. Brother John / Iko Iko / Do You Wanna Dance / Banana Boat Song
2. Big Chief
3. Fire on the Bayou (a couple glitches)
4. Shake Your Tambourine
5. Africa / Thank You (Falletinme Be Mice Elf Agin)
6. Everybody Plays the Fool
7. Love the One You're With / You Can't Always Get What You Want / Cissy Strut riff
8. Rockin Pneumonia (with Eddy Mitchell)

Total time 106m 52s

This is a more complete version of torrent #96183. Also, I used somewhat
better sounding sources than were used on the previous torrent (although
I don't believe this to be a drastic improvement over the previous one.)
"Hey Pocky Way" and "Sister Rosa" each include a few seconds more at the
beginning.

To fill out disc two, I added four tracks from Nyon, France July 1991
(which I ripped from the silver disk, "Neville Brothers Live USA.") These
four tracks sound to me like they are from an FM source as well.

I don't know much about the lineage of the original recordings, but I've
done my best to describe my part of the process.

Neville Brothers - House of Blues, Feb. 4-10, 1995, SBD

Notes:

Neville Brothers
Live from the House of Blues (pre-fm)
Original broadcast dates February 4 - February 10, 1995
(Recorded around Christmas 1994)
Total time: 56m 48s

Original radio station cd -> ripped to .wav files using Cool
Edit Pro (which was also used to edit out commercials and
cross-fade several tracks) -> converted to .flac and tested
using Flac Frontend.

flac fingerprints included

01. Saturday Night Fish Fry / Love the One You're With
02. Yellow Moon
03. Lights **
04. Stay What You Are / Family Affair / Stay What You Are ++
05. Something
06. Brother John / Iko Iko / Jambalaya
07. Fear, Hate, Envy, Jealousy
08. Let My People Go
09. Big Chief

** with Charmaine Neville
++ with Ivan Neville

In my opinion, this show is the cream of the crop of live
1990's Neville Brothers shows (despite the fact that the
show was too short!) If for no other reason, it's worth
hearing their cover of the Beatles classic, "Something."
This torrent comes from a set of the original cds that
were sent out to the radio stations so the sound quality
is exceptional. All commercials have been edited out.

The Brothers are joined by Aaron's son, Ivan and Charles's
daughter, Charmaine (both of whom are very talented musicians
in their own right.)

As a sad footnote, the guitarist on this recording is the
late Eddie Fresche who joined the Neville Brothers band in
April of 2004 and died of a brain tumor a year later while
the band was on hiatus.

I was taking an analog patch out of someone's DAT, who in turn was taking a digi pat

a 24 bit recording. Also, I haven't yet gotten used to using the R-09 in a live se

Notes:

New York Dolls
September 27, 1974

-Radio broadcast. Transferred from a TDK SA 90 high bias cassette.
I have seen a poster advertising this concert that shows the venue as "Palais du Co
mmerce". I believe the show was either broadcast on or sponsored by radio station C
KVL 96.9
The sound quality is rather rough around the edges. Still, I think it is enjoyable
& worthwhile. Maybe somebody out there has a clean upgrade copy? The only major pro
blem area is during track #11 at around 2:43 the sound gets very muted, but returns
by the next song. Buddy Bowser plays saxophone on tracks #5 through #14

The first song, Revenge doesn't have any bass guitar on it but two guitars,
so don't think it sounds too thin !

Note : This tracklist mentions 17 songs but in reality there are 20 tracks,
including crowd noise and stage banter.

Additional comments:

Audience recording from Ronnie Scott's, London, UK, August 1st, 1998. In my opinion this is the be
st of the 1998 shows. Excellent sound is an understatement! This is probably as close to a soundbo
ard recording you can get with an audience recording in my opinion. I wrote the same about July 27
but this is perhaps even slightly better. Also great musically. A complete concert. Rare versions
of The Long Highway and Wild Theme. Guest player on Mystery Train and Bewildered, the sax player
Pat Crumly from the Pat Crumly Quartet and the John Critchinson Quartet etc. Remastered sound. Ava
ilable on 2 CD-R.
