Three of the world's best musicians, all monsters on their respective instruments,
together on the same stage. This could well be the "Trio of Doom Mk 2".
This is a very nice audience recording with a respectful crowd.

If you like this, be sure to check out the official Front Page CD which is absolute
ly killer (and includes John McLaughlin on one track).

Enjoy!

This was a special night, as it was only my second time seeing Bireli. The first time, he played at Chicago's
Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville in 1991, with Francois Moutin and Yves Gerard I believe, in support of the "Acous
tic Moments" CD. To our surprise, he played a full set of smokin' electric fusion, which included "Teen Town"
as well as stuff from the "Inferno" and "Foreign Affairs" CDs. There might've been one acoustic number. Abso
lutely unbelievable guitar work, unheard on ANY of his albums. Imagine a blend of Holdsworth, Gambale and DiM
eola. After both shows, we spent some time with Bireli backstage. He's always very accomidating to his fans,
signing autographs and answering all questions, and the fact that there was only me and a friend there, made
it super cool. I missed the time he came through Chicago in 1997 with Larry Coryell, Richard Bona and Billy C
obham. They played at Buddy Guy's Legends. If anyone has any gigs from the '91 or' 97 tour, or ANY Bireli sho
ws, please post them! Meanwhile, hope you'll enjoy this one...

I didn't have the time to whip up a set list, so any help is appreciated.

Soundboard Recording, excellent sound.

I got the CDRs in a trade with those 2 second licks between the songs.
I filtered them out as good as I could, 2 or 3 are still audible, but nothing severe
.
They only affect the applause...

Beautiful, mostly calm, set of this beatiful band. A lot of songs from the soon to be released

Last Exit

Notes:

Last Exit - OFFICIAL material removed + REMASTERED

1986-February-16
Paris, New Morning, 1986

Source: Dime post, banned for official content
Lineage: AUD > cd on trade > flac > dime?

Changes made (Nero 6):
Removed official material (see set list below) using official CD as reference
Selected the best of L or R channels to make better mono source
Applied Nero noise print NR, removes much noise, improves instrument dynamics
Selectively fixed changing volume during some tracks
Removed periods of silence / tuning
Cross-faded tracks for smooth transitions

Quality: A+ mono, much clearer / punchier than the original 'fake stereo' version
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The original was banned for official material, so after an hour or so listening,
I worked out what was the official material and removed it. It was clearly a poor
'fake stereo' edit of what might actually have been a mono SBD (rather than AUD)
and clearly sounded superior in mono (like some of my Can remasters), so I picked
the better sounding of each of the tracks and did some tidying up (details above)
and now it is a great listen...

...Enjoy !!

Thee Image Club, Miami, Florida, February 14, 1969

CD 1: (43:15) Train Kept A Rollin' (beginning fades in), I Can't Quit You Baby, Dazed &
Confused, Killing Floor (includes Lemon Song, Needle Blues, You'll Be Mine), Babe I'm Go

CD 2: (44:34) White Summer/Black Mountain Side (beginning fades in), As Long As I Have Y
ou (includes Fresh Garbage, Hush Little Baby, Shake), You Shook Me, Pat's Delight

Both sets are from the same taper. Each recording is good and clear. The volume is consi
stent without any noticeable tape hiss. The sound quality of the recording is a bit date
d though. The recording of the first set ends during How Many More Times' bow section. B
oth performances are not wild ones & the audiences do not sound too present. But both sh
ows are still good. (Brian Ingham July 96)

Image Club (Rag Doll), Reflections On My Mind (IQ), & Yellow Zeppelin (Tarantura)
Rag Doll and Tarantura are missing a couple of seconds of tape after the final before th
e end of the first disc.
Tarantura is the only title to feature time before the show, but it was pasted there fro
m elsewhere in the show [stupid wankers - slumpy]. Most of the tape stretches and cuts h
ave been edited on this title. There are a couple of seconds missing from Robert's intro
duction to HMMT. The last two seconds of HMMT is missing, due to the fade out. Eight sec
onds of tape were pasted at the end of the tape.
All three titles have very similar sound.

This is as close as you'll ever get the high speed reel master source. AJD owns the orig
inal PCM transfer from those reels and the reels have since been destroyed by fire. This
originally came from Bill Graham's vault. The original PCM is the now definitive source
, but was not widely circulating until now. This is the most complete tape circulated in
 this quality to date.

PCM was used before DAT machines were invented and were the first means of digital recor
ding. An A/D signal converter was used to to encode analog audio from tape reels to (Son
y recommended) BETAMAX tapes in a standard BETA machine. A PCM encoder, coupled to a VCR
, enables you to record digital audio as if it was an ordinary video signal. The device
also extracts the digital audio message from the video signal, the other way round, for
playback.

This PCM was likely made with either the PCM-1 (1977) or the PCM-F1 (1981).

What you are receiving is a direct digital transfer done by the owner of the PCM recordi
ng, AJD, a professional audio guru. The PCM machine used for the transfer is a SONY PCM-
601ESD, originally sold in 1984-1985. The PCM-601ESD had the important advantages of S/P
DIF digital I/O and adjustable tracking and VCR head-matching circuits and was the best
digital storage technology available at the time.

These units are pretty hard to come by these days.

I took his transfer and mastered it for release, then encoded to FLAC8. Notice it it not
a "remaster" since was never actually mastered, just transferred from old media to new
as the technology progressed.

For those who would ask:
This is better quality than "Blues Anytime" from EVSD. The tape is more complete and the
audio quality is at least a generation cleaner, if not two. The stereo separation is MU
CH better on this transfer than whatever EVSD used. The first few notes on BIGLY have ob
viously been spliced in by EVSD from a distorted source (probably not even the same date
) and do not exist on the master PCM.

This is more complete and better quality than the original "Dancing Avocado". When I put
that one out, the source I was given had been through more DAT and CDR gens.

This show had some PA problems in a few places (Jones' bass rig, mainly) and the PA had
a slight buzz all night (only noticeable between songs or very quiet passages). But hey,
that's how it went down that night, so it's just like being there - except - Plant's mi
c seems distant - which adds credibility to the 2 neumanns on stage thing. They'd have p
icked up the drums and amps and Roberts voice would have been on the house PA, which was
probably just forward of the mics (or in line). I kind of like it this way - as I can r
eally hear the band!

27-Apr-69 San Francisco

Collage (TDOLZ).April 27 1969, Fillmore West,San Francisco, California. Soundboard/Audie
nce.

CD1(68:26):The Train Kept a Rolling/I Can't Quit You/As Long As I Have You//You Shook Me
/How Many More Times/Communication Breakdown. (First Set)

CD2(62:28):The Lemon Song/Babe I'm Gonna Leave You/White Summer-Black Mountain Side/Sitt
ing & Thinking/ Pat's Delight/Dazed Confused. (Second Set).

This is not a reissue of the famous soundboard tape but, as the title suggests, a combin
ation of soundboard and audience sources. No, it isn't a reissue of the Twinight release
either, this time around, TDOLZ have outdone themselves by filling the gaps on the soun
dboard tape with the audience source with a mastering job that has to be heard to be bel
ieved. The audience source is spliced onto the soundboard tape, and vice versa, so clean
ly it's amazing. The differences of quality and volume between both recordings are notor
ious but the painstaking care with which the tapes were combined is truly awesome, allow
ing the concerts to flow. Other versions of the soundboard tape like Aulica's De Luxe Li
ve At The Fillmore West and Living Legend's 20 Years The Train Kept A Rolling pale in co
mparison to the greatly detailed and dynamic sound quality and the stereo separation of
TDOLZ's offering .I hadn't heard the audience tape, so listening to these complete perfo
rmances is a revelation as the quality of the audience source is very clear. The total t
ime suggests that these sets are probably as complete as they can be save for Plant's in
troduction to Train, according to Brian Ingham's excellent review on IQ's version of the
audience tape. The Bootlegs Site recently registered Jelly Roll's Simplistic Atmosphere
,which perhaps is a similar item but the playing times displayed on this website are in
ferior to those of TDOLZ's Collage. The set list is the same for both releases, with Com
munication Breakdown as the first set's encore, most other releases have placed this num
ber as the second set's encore. Maybe the experts (a.k.a. trainspotters), could tell us
if this is right or wrong. [Webmaster: Communication Breakdown is the first sets encore]
. The packaging is also great with pictures of the '69 US Tour Programme in a transparen
t slim jewel case. (Rosina Diaz Scali Sept 99)

Led Zeppelin - Cabala (8 discs)

Notes:

Track Listing:

	Disc One:
01. I’m Confused – Was one of the first numbers Led Zeppelin added to their set after beginning their career as the New Yardbirds. They soon changed the name of the song to “Dazed and Confused”. This version was recorded in 1968 at the Anderson Theater for one of Pages final performances with The Yardbirds.
02. Train Kept A Rollin’ – Was another song Zeppelin played during their first American Tour in 1969. The track was recorded live in New York in 1968 with Jimmy Page and The Yardbirds.
03. She Just Satisfies – Is the first solo release from James Patrick Page. Originally released in 1965 under the name of Jimmy Page, this record is now incredibly scarce. The song was written and produced by Page. The track features Jimmy on all the instruments and lead vocals.
04. Keep Movin’ – An R&B instrumental is the B-side to 21-year old Jimmy Page’s first solo release. The single was issued only in England on Fontana Records.
05. You Better Run – Is the first recording featuring a 19-year old Robert Anthony Plant. The single was released in 1966 and issued under the name of Plant’s group Listen. The track is a cover version of a Rascals tune which was later recorded by Pat Benatar.
06. Everybody’s Gonna Say – Is the B-side to Robert Plant’s first solo single. The band originally called themselves The Tennessee Teens, but changed their name to Listen. This is the first track crediting Robert Plant as songwriter.
07. Our Song – Was Robert Plant’s first solo single issued under his own name. The single was released only in England in mid-1967.
08. Long Time Coming – Was the third and final Robert Plant solo release before joining Led Zeppelin. The track was recorded by The Band of Joy in late-1967. The group included a 19-year old drummer named John Henry Bonham.
09. I’ve Got A Secret – Is the B-side to the Band of Joy’s only recording. This track also features John “Bonzo” Bonham on drums.
10. Goodnight Sweet Josephine – Was the A-side to the Yardbirds final recording with Page. The song has never appeared on any Yardbirds album and features Jimmy’s first experiments with a phased guitar.
11. Think About It – Is the B-side to The Yardbirds last single. Released in 1968, the track was never included on any album and is quite scarce. If you listen to Page’s guitar solo, you’ll hear where he got the idea for the middle of “Dazed and Confused”.
12. Hey Hey What Can I Do – Is the only track Led Zeppelin released as a single, but never included on any of their LP’s. The song was originally released as a B-side to “The Immigrant Song”.
13. Psychodasies – Is one of three Yardbirds tracks featuring Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page on guitars. This track has never been released in America, or included on any Yardbirds album.
14. Happenings Ten Years Times Ago – Was the first Yardbirds track to feature both Beck and Page on dual lead guitar.
15. Stroll On – Was the only Yardbirds track specifically recorded for a film. The song was intended for the 1967 movie “Blow Up”. The cut is basically “Train Kept A Rollin’” with different lyrics. The tune includes both Beck and Page on guitars.
16. My Babe Left Me – Is one of the earliest recording sessions featuring Jimmy Page on guitar. The single written by Arthur Cruddop is a remake of an Elvis Presley Sun records classic. The track was recorded in early 1963 with Dave Berry and the Cruisers.
17. A Certain Girl – Recorded by The First Gear features Page on guitar in 1964. The tune was popular with the British groups of the era including The Yardbirds, who also recorded it with Eric Clapton.
18. Leave My Kitten Alone – Is the B-side to “A Certain Girl”. It’s an outstanding British pop record. In 1964 the song was recorded by several British bands including the Beatles. The session was produced by Shel Talmy who also produced records for The Kinks and The Who.
19. Surprise Surprise – Was recorded by Page in 1965. The record was released by Lulu and The Luvvers. The track is a cover version of an often overlooked Rolling Stones number. Lulu later went on to fame as a pop singer with songs like “To Sir With Love”, but she began her career as an R&B singer with Page backing her up on guitar. (Godwin states that Lulu is not performing this version)
20. How Do You Feel – Was one of the final recordings featuring Page as a session guitarist. Recorded in 1966 by The Primitives, this track captures the true raw sound and feel of British rock bands of the era.
21. Jim’s Blues – Was released on an album by PJ Proby “Three Week Hero”. It was the first record including all the members of Led Zeppelin. The album was recorded several months before “Led Zeppelin I”.
22. Traveling Riverside Blues – Was originally recorded for “Led Zeppelin II”. For some unknown reason, the track remained an unreleased outtake for over twelve years.
You Shook Me – no details given
23. The Girl I Love – no details given (ed: later appeared on official release “BBC Sessions” as “The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Wavy Hair”)

Gordon Lightfoot

Gordon Lightfoot - Soundstage, PBS, 1979

Notes:

SOUNDSTAGE - PBS - 1979
"Ah yes, the legendary Soundstage Special. Lightfoot performed Cotton Jenny, The Wreck Of The
Edmund Fitzgerald, Endless Wire, Summertime Dream, Don Quixote, If You Could Read My Mind, Gh
osts Of Cape Horn (the first performance ever of this one), Beautiful, Hangdog Hotel Room, Sun
down. At this point they broke for intermission and each band member said a few words, while
in the background pictures and sounds from an earlier rehearsal were seen and heard. The seco
nd set went like this - Early Morning Rain, Whisper My Name, On The TV (later to become On The
High Seas), Old Dan's Records and the Canadian Railroad Trilogy."

Taken from Lightfoot.ca

One of the rare Lightfoot concerts I have that didn't need any fixing whatsoever. I have done
no editing of this whatsoever. Excellent Soundboard recording.

I had been asked a few times to make this available... so here it is.

David Lindley & El Rayo-X

Keystone Palo Alto, Palo Alto, CA. 1982-10-30

**Partial Show**

Source: SBD or FM
Sound Quality: B+ / A-
Length: 32:44

Lineage: SBD or FM->cass x 3->Sound Studio(Mac)->flac

rate: 44.1 khz - 16 bits - stereo

I received this from a friend over twenty years ago. Since then my friend has moved to Colorado and I've lo
st touch with him. Unfortunately this makes the lineage kind of vague.

The cassette I have is labeled El Rayo-X Keystone Palo Alto 1982 SBD. When I was given the tape I was told
it was 3rd generation. I have checked The David Lindley Gigography website for a specific date and the only
El Rayo-X show at the Keystone in Palo Alto that year is listed as 10/30/82.

The tape is labeled a soundboard but it could have been a local FM broadcast. It's definitely NOT an audien
ce - it sounds like it could be a broadcast with slight static. Or maybe a soundboard with lightly distorte
d levels?

Regardless the sound quality is very good, probably a B+ or A-. This is a straight copy of my cassette wart
s and all. No attempt at re-mastering or EQ has been made. Although it's short Mr. Dave & the boys on fire!
! Check out the 'Miserlou' quote during the intro to 'Mercury Blues'... really bitchin'!

According to the David Lindley Gigography (thank you Bill DeBlonk!) the band lineup in 1982 went like this:

David Lindley, Bernie Larsen-guitar, Jorge Calderon-bass, Ian Wallace-drums

re-transferred and mastered to cdr in 2006 as detailed below:

Included in this torrent is a scan of the flyer for the show that I saved, scans of two photos my
buddy BQ took at this show, and scans of two autographed promo photos of Lindley from that era.

The venue for this show was The Cotati Cabaret in Cotati, CA. It was a small club that held about
300 people. Cotati is a small town located about an hour north of San Francisco.

Cotati is next to Sonoma State University, which was called Granola State University back in the h
ippie days. SSU is where the great recording of Old & In The Way with Ramblin' Jack Elliott openi
ng was made. There is a great poster of the O&ITW show, my copy of which is long gone

New George's is a small bar in San Rafael, CA. The club has undergone some ownership changes and
remodeling since this concert was recorded, but at that time it was a room that help 200 or so peo
ple by my estimate. I was in the center about forty feet from the stage, with my mike about 10 fee
t up from the floor, on a platform above the crowd upon which the lighting person worked (placed t
here surreptitiously). The guitar and drums come out very clearly, the vocals are a little echo-e
y but quite discernable. Compared to the entire universe of audience recordings, I would rate thi
s a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. I offer it here because because we must have recordings of every not
e Mr. Dave ever played.

Arto Lindsay

"After his tenure as guitarist in the great no wave band DNA and punk-jazzers the Lounge Lizards, Arto Lindsay formed the equally exciting and (pun intended) ambitious Ambitious Lovers, while also being involved with the earliest incarnations of the Golden Palominos. Lindsay, a native of Brazil, began conflating the Brazilian pop music of his youth with the sonic density and avant-garde urgings he pursued as a member of the Lower East Side noise rock scene. As a result, his recordings as leader of the Ambitious Lovers are not all atonal skronk, but rather a deft blend of dance-pop and sonic adventurousness. With inestimable help from keyboardist and Ambitious Lover co-conspirator Peter Scherer, the first Ambitious Lovers release, Envy, retains more of a dissonant edge, and as such doesn't seem too far removed from Lindsay's days with DNA. The next record, Greed (noticing a pattern developing here?), was a slick, ebullient pop record that sounded like a direct descendent of the Brazilian pop recorded by giants such as Jorge Ben, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil. With plenty of up-tempo, danceable tracks, the noisy undercurrent was downplayed perhaps a bit more than noisemeisters would like, but the resulting album was nearly flawless. As was its follow-up, Lust, which, true to its title, was a touch more salacious, and undeniably great modern pop music. Although they don't sell records in the millions (or the hundreds of thousands for that matter), the Ambitious Lovers are one of the few bands to live up to their name record after record. Following Ambitious Lovers, Lindsay became more involved with Brazilian music, working on albums by such Brazilian luminaries as Marisa Monte, Joao Gilberto, Gal Costa and Tom Zé. In the mid 90's, he began issuing albums under his own name, starting with Aggregates 1-26 on the Knitting Factory label. This album was more of a return to DNA-type skronk, but after switching to Bar None for his next album Mundo Civilizado, the Brazilian influence was back, along with more prominent electronica elements. After several releases on Bar None, Lindsay became the first artist to release an album on Ani Difranco's Righteous Babe label (besides Ani herself, that is), beginning with The Prize. Invoke was released in 2002, followed by Salt in 2004, all dispaying his special synthesis of Brazilian music with the downtown avant-garde." - John Dougan and Sean Westergaard

This exceptional recording showcases Little Feat in a studio setting done at Hempst
ead Studios for WLIR FM (Long Island, NY). The show is very good, with loads of Lowe
ll's juicy down-home slide pervasive throughout. The recording is very high quality
for 1973. Some tidbits of DJ interviewing Lowell and the boys are on here between so
ngs. Lowell talks about writing "Willin" while in the Mothers of Invention. They per
form an absolutely beautiful version of On Your Way Down. The mood of the recording
is laid back and there are a handful of people hanging out there, who you can hear c
lapping between songs. I had this recording in my collection forever and it is so wo
rn out it is a delight to hear this nice version. Arguably the best of the early Fea
t "boots", perhaps the only other one that rivals it is the other tape from the Ultr
asonic on September 19, 1974.

This is a nicely recorded show from a master cassette recording of the original FM br

uring Feats Don't Fail Me Now, and is thanked by the band at the end of the show. Cer
phe and WHFS were big early supporters of Little Feat and played a key role in popula
rizing the band in the Washington area. DC loved Little Feat.

This concert will be archived alongside the currently offered audience source of this
show in the Live Music Archive at:

http://www.archive.org/details/lf1976-05-10.shnf.

This FM source is a significant upgrade to the archived version. Additionally, the ar
chived audience version has an incorrect setlist order, and does not include the enco
re "Feats Don't Fail Me Now".

Featbase.net says that there are two more encores that are missing from this show. LF
did indeed used to end shows from this era with Teenage Nervous Breakdown and/or Wil
lin, but I have no way of knowing for sure if anything is missing here. - DUb Irie 20

Several years back there was a discussion on the hoyhoy digest (Little Feat's listserv)
about favorite Feat shows on disc. Almost as an afterthought somebody mentioned this
one, and a bunch of folks chimed in with yeah that's right! It's a fine recording of a
great performance of a unique set list. A must-have for Dog Race fans -- the closing
reprise out of Spanish Moon is a short but sweet reminder of the early 10-minute smoker.
With no Dixie Chicken or Fat Man, jams on other tunes are extended. And if you've never
heard Fred Tackett's vocal on Everything I Do Gon' Be Funky, you need this show!

Digging through the closet archives and searching for what to upload next, I offer u
p the first show I ever taped.

After he was an E Streeter and long before he was Silvio or an E Streeter for the se
cond time, Miami Steve Van Zandt hit the stage in Dallas with his band Little Steve
n & The Disciples of Soul.
I searched the Dime archives and could find no Little Steven torrents so maybe this
is the first in a long time, either way this is off the master tape.

I can't say I have a lot of memories of this show after 23 years, except it was LOUD
, the crowd was very enthusiastic and there was a whole bunch of folks on a farily s
mall stage.

Quality is excellent for a recording and tape this old, the music has strong up fron
t presence and the master tape has not degraded at all.
There is an occassional slight waiver in sound due to me turning the mic slightly (I
learned very quickly not to do that), it does not inferfere with the overall qualit
y and is only momentary.

I can't say they were the tightest band in the world, but a fun dose of straight ahe
ad Rock & Roll...

Enjoy!

Not sure if this show has been seeded before but there seems to be a decent amount o
f Steven fans out there so thought I'd seed a known lineage copy, if a master copy h
as ever been seeded then you might want to check the quality (see below) for compari
son sake.

This came to me via a trade in late '83 or early '84 through a friend off the master
(I did not get it directly from the taper but a fellow taper/trader got a copy for
me off the master).

Apparently Little Steven and the band were in Cannes for the premier of the "Men Wi
thout Women" film and played this show while in town.

The Master was recorded very low in volume and there was very little mid range or hi
gh end with a lot of low end bass.
I had to do quite a bit of remastering on the tape to cut the bass and pull out the
high end, this improved the high end and overall quality dramatically but also incre
ased a very minor bit of underlying hiss (only slightly noticeable during the quite
parts which aren't many at a Little Steven show). I took about 5 passes on each song
to get to the point I was happy with (I eq very slowly as opposed to one big pass),
I don't generally like to do much eq'ing unless absolutely necessary, but I didn't
feel it was seedable in it's original form.

The recording has very little crowd noise and sounds to be recorded away from the ge
neral audience.

I think it is a very good listen (great version of Princess Of Little Italy).

Hope you enjoy it!

I taped Little Steven for a second time 22 years ago and then proceded to misplace t
he master tape for the past 20 years (I thought I sent it to someone by mistake).
I traded it before it went missing so there are some poor copies floating around (I
actually traded for a CD copy from a 5th Generation analog just to hear it again, ma
n it was hiss city).

So, I was doing some organizing today and unbelievably I stumbled across my master
tape, yes in the closet archives!

Supporting his second release "Voice Of America", this was the show that the video f
or "Undefeated" was shot at (THE AUDIO FOR THE VIDEO WAS FROM THE STUDIO VERSION OF
THE SONG AND NOT THE ACTUAL SHOW, I CLEARED IT WITH THE MODS TO MAKE SURE IT DIDN'T
GET BANNED), that's the reason "Undefeated" is played twice.

So, for all you Little Steven fans for the first time directly from the master and n
ot the poor hissy version in circulation, I bring you Little Steven & The Disciples
Of Soul's 2nd visit to Dallas, TX.

Sound samples attached...

Enjoy!

Notes:
A bad cable resulted in the right channel dropping out starting at 0:40 of d2t04 and continuing
through d2t05 and d2t06. I fixed the problem prior to the start of d2t07 and the rest of the
recording is intact. I used the channel converter feature in SoundForge to copy the left chann
el onto the right for this portion and hence this portion of the 2nd Set is mono.

Notes/Flaws: Packed festival setting with some crowd noise but not bad or distracting IMO. With
headphones on you feel like you're right in the middle of it. Bass was a little heavy so I tur
ned my levels down, but you may want to reduce your bass a click or 2 from your normal settings
 and it sounds really nice.

I selectively edited this excellent audience recording (Cooledit Pro) to even some
level changes, bring up the general level and to make some of the quiet stage bante
r easier to hear. I also lowered the bass temporarily during 1 strong drum part. T
here was some slight diginoise during the 1st few minutes (barely noticable), other
wise it is flawless. Listen to the crickets during some of the quiet parts. Thanks
markp, nice work, a great 1995 Lyle, Large Band show.
